Endlessly Reskinnable

When developing educational games and experiences for students, I always look for opportunities to reskin any given mechanic or experience. A reskin can be a whole new story told in a familiar format. This allows the player to focus on the story and not on learning how to play through it. (And, conveniently, it allows development teams to reuse code that is already working well. Win-win.)

Tic-Tac-Toe is one of those experiences that is endlessly reskinnable.

I’ve already created one silly reskin in Tick Taco.

Have some fun with Tick & Taco in this free and silly twist on the classic game, Tic-Tac-Toe! In this digital version, AI is your opponent!

And here is yet another reskin - this time, an analog version.

Just as I like to find ways to reuse code, I like to find ways to reuse containers. I find them to be endlessly reskinnable!

This burger-themed tic-tac-toe game was created from two Talenti lids, the top “screw on” part of one Talenti container, hot glue, joint compound, felt, and paint. Painted hot glue onions and clay pickles stand in for the Xs and Os. This travel-friendly game can be played right on top of the lid while the onions and pickles wait inside the burger to played. Flip the topping coin to determine who plays onions and who plays pickles.

Mom always told me not to play with my food.

Well, Mom, look at me now - all grown up and playin’ with my food.
